KEY PLATFORM ENHANCEMENTS FOR MOBILE USERS AT RED HERRING
NDA 2000
Key Platform Enhancements
For Mobile Users Include Mobile Email Attachments and
Copyright-friendly Content Search Tool
Carlsbad, CA (October
30, 2000) - vVault (www.vVault.com),
the leading mobile application infrastructure company,
today at Red Herring NDA 2000 announced several enhancements
to its technology platform designed to benefit mobile
users. The company licenses mobile messaging services,
document presentment and m-storage solutions to online
service providers and enterprises. Key enhancements
being released include notification for new faxes and
emails; fax delivery confirmations; email attachment
viewing and printing from mobile devices; and a copyright-friendly
content search tool.
Market research firm
IDC estimates that the number of mobile workers is increasing
at a rate of over 15% and 30% per year, in the U.S.
and Western Europe respectively. "vVault continues to
pioneer compelling mobile applications to meet the needs
of the large and growing ranks of mobile users," said
CEO Bill Ho. "From support for fax-based digitization
of paper documents to wireless attachment management,
vVault technologies truly enable today's mobile lifestyles."
vVault's mobile messaging
services are designed to bring added convenience to
mobile users by extending the utility of mobile devices.
vVault's attachment management capability lets users
view the text contents of virtually all attachment types
- including images and MS Office files - on mobile devices,
as well as print attachments to any fax machine on demand.
Additionally, users can configure vVault accounts to
send notifications when faxes or emails arrive. Alerts
can be sent to email addresses including most mobile
phones or pagers. Notification is also integrated into
vVault's fax capability, sending alerts when fax deliveries
fail or confirmation when deliveries complete successfully.
vVault's platform now
also includes Content FinderTM, a search tool that lets
mobile consumers save downloads, MP3s, and videos into
vVault accounts from FTP sites, peer-to-peer networks,
and Web sites. Using a mobile phone, users can save
an MP3 directly into a vVault account from the Gnutella
network, where the file can be accessed via PC, or shared
via the Web or email. The service also integrates leading-edge
copyright protection systems to minimize the distribution
of infringing content.
According to Will Aldrich,
vVault's Vice President of Business Development, "The
Internet has created an explosion of distribution channels
for digital content, from FTP to P2P, creating an overwhelming
variety of choices for how to get, manage, and share
downloads. Content FinderTM streamlines the experience
for PC and mobile users, making it easier to get rich,
authorized content wherever it lives on the Internet."
