vVAULT NAMED TO PRESTIGIOUS FORTUNE SMALL BUSINESS "NEXT HOT COMPANIES" LIST

Mobile Productivity Solutions Company is One of 65 "FastTrack" Start Ups

San Francisco, CA (May 8, 2001) - vVault, a leading provider of infrastructure technology for mobile productivity applications, today announced its listing on Fortune Small Business' Top 65 "Next Hot Companies" list of fast-track startups, as found in the magazine's May issue. Fortune Small Business editors selected vVault from candidates nominated by 1,200 sources, including the National Venture Capital Association, the National Business Incubation Association, colleges with entrepreneurial programs, and PriceWaterhouseCoopers, which surveys VC-backed companies.

The Fortune Small Business list of small companies with big ideas profiles promising young businesses in a range of sectors. The editors evaluated companies on several criteria, including funding raised to date and announced customers. The article noted vVault's value proposition - to help leading communications companies generate new revenues by deploying next-generation mobile productivity applications: "[vVault] provides its technology to telecom carriers and PDA software makers, who pay vVault an undisclosed licensing fee," wrote FSB. "The customers then use it as a service to attract more clients." As mentioned in the review, wireless service provider OmniSky will be the first to offer vVault-powered email attachment view to its subscribers.

"Thousands of young companies seek the prestige of being recognized by Fortune," stated Will Aldrich, CEO of vVault. "We were thrilled to be highlighted as one of the most notable start ups of the year. Following on the heels of vVault's recent WAPPYAwards and customer wins, this honor adds further momentum to the market traction we're experiencing this year."

vVault licenses the award-winning vVault Platform - mobile productivity technology that enables mobile professionals to access, send, and collaborate on business critical documents through fax, email, the Web, and emerging wireless devices - to leading communications companies.
